[HISTORY: Adopted by the Town Meeting of the Town of Dalton. Amendments

The Town Manager shall annually recommend, subject to Select Board approval,
the appointment of an attorney or a firm of attorneys to act as Town Counsel
as defined in Town Manager Act, Section 6K and P.[1] Said Town Counsel shall be paid such charges for services as the
Select Board and Town Meeting may approve.
The Select Board shall act as Town agent and shall have authority, except
as otherwise provided by law, to prosecute, defend and compromise all litigation
to which the Town is a party and to employ special counsel to assist the Town
whenever in its judgment necessity therefor arises.
