[HISTORY: Adopted by the Board of Health of the Township of Mantua 9-2-2003 (Ch. 167 of the 1978 Code). Amendments noted where applicable.]
The Board of Health of the Township of Mantua does hereby accept and adopt the New Jersey State Sanitary Code, Chapter 8, Body Art Procedures, N.J.A.C. 8:27-1 et seq., as the standard governing all businesses that offer tattooing, permanent cosmetics, and ear and body piercing to the public with the exception of a physician who is authorized by the State Board of Medical Examiners to practice medicine, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 45:9-6 et seq.

The provisions of the State Sanitary Code shall have the force and effect of law. Under the authority of N.J.S.A. 26:1A-9, the provisions are enforceable by the New Jersey State Department of Health and Senior Services and county departments of health.
A. 
Excluding any other licensing requirements provided by the state and/or local county health agency and/or department, it shall be unlawful for any purpose to operate a body art business without first obtaining a license from the Township of Mantua Board of Health to engage in such business in accordance with the provisions of this chapter.
B. 
An application for a license shall be accompanied by a fee in the amount of $1,000. Any change of ownership shall require a new application and a license with payment of fees therefor. Applications shall be filed with the Township Clerk.
C. 
All local licenses shall expire on the 31st day of December annually.
Any person who violates any provision of this chapter shall upon conviction be punishable as provided in N.J.S.A. 26:1A-10.
