As used in this chapter, the following terms
shall have the meanings indicated:
SHOPPING CART
Any cart, wagon, barrow, platform or other device mounted
on wheels or rollers provided by the owner or operator of a store
for the use of his customers or employees in transporting goods and
merchandise about the store premises.
STORE
Any retail mercantile establishment where merchandise is
offered for sale to the public.
STORE PREMISES
The buildings and lands owned, leased or occupied and used
in conjunction with the operation of a store.
No person shall remove any shopping cart from
any store premises without the permission of the owner or lessee thereof
or his authorized agent; provided, however, that public notice forbidding
such removal shall have been conspicuously posted on said premises
adjacent to the street or highway bounding the same and to the usual
entryway thereto.

Any person violating any provisions of this
chapter, upon conviction therefor, shall be punished by a fine not
exceeding $500 or imprisonment for a term not to exceed 90 days, or
both.
