All elevators, dumbwaiters, escalators, moving walks and equipment relating thereto located in or upon commercial business or industrial property must comply with the applicable standards set forth in the American National Standard Safety Code for Elevators, Dumbwaiters and Moving Walks, as amended, published by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers or its successors, hereinafter referred to as "ANSI A17.1-1971."
A. 
Equipment or devices specified in § 88-1 shall each be inspected periodically but not less frequently than once in each twelve-month period when such device or equipment is located in nonresidential locations as specified in § 88-1 above. Each such piece of equipment or device shall have a separate certificate pertaining to it.
B. 
Inspections and inspection certificates must be as set forth in ANSI A17.1-1971.
Failure to obtain a certificate or an inspection as set forth shall render the certificate of occupancy for such premises void, and the premises may be sealed by the Building Department.
A. 
The fee for annual inspections shall be as set forth in Chapter A224, Fees, for each device or piece of equipment.[1]

B. 
The Building Department may have additional inspections made at the owner's expense.
Any expense incurred by the Building Department may be assessed against the property in the same manner as any other tax or assessment.
The fee for the issuance of a certificate shall be as set forth in Chapter A224, Fees, for each certificate.
