All dogs within the Town of Southport, unless otherwise exempted,
shall be licensed. The owner of each dog required to be licensed shall
obtain, complete and return to the Southport Town Clerk a dog license
application together with the license application fee, any applicable
license surcharges and such additional fees as may be established
by the Town of Southport. Each license application shall be accompanied
by proof that the dog has been vaccinated against rabies or a statement
from a licensed veterinarian that such vaccination would endanger
the dog's life in which case vaccination shall not be required. Each
license issued shall be valid for a period of up to three years and
shall be transferrable. The period for which such licenses shall be
valid shall be set from time to time by resolution of the Town Board
of the Town of Southport at a meeting duly convened of said Town Board.

A. Fees set
forth herein shall be in addition to fees set by the Agriculture and
Markets Law of the State of New York and shall be referred to as the
"local license fee."
B. The local
license fee for all dogs harbored in the Town of Southport, whether
they be neutered or unneutered male dogs, spayed or unspayed female
dogs or purebreds, shall be set from time to time by resolution of
the Town Board of the Town of Southport at a meeting duly convened
of said Town Board.
C. Guide dogs,
service dogs and working dogs shall be exempt from any local license
fee.
D. The fees
for redeeming an impounded dog shall be set from time to time by resolution
of the Town Board of the Town of Southport at a meeting duly convened
of said Town Board. In addition, the owner of any dog so impounded
shall be liable for any and all necessary expenses and fees, including,
but not limited to kennel fees.
