[HISTORY: Adopted by the Council of the City of Easton 1-9-1964 by Ord. No. 1798 (Art. 173 of the 1965 Codified Ordinances); amended in its entirety 11-26-2013 by Ord. No. 5442. Subsequent amendments noted where applicable.]
A Board of Health is established for the City. Such Board shall consist of five members, all of whom shall serve without compensation. Except as otherwise herein provided, membership on the Board of Health shall be incompatible with every other City office.

The members of the Board of Health, all residents of the City of Easton, shall be appointed by the Mayor, subject to the approval of Council, and in accordance with Section 12302 of the Third Class City Code,[1] and shall serve for terms of five years or until their successors are appointed.

Each member of the Board of Health shall take the oath of office prescribed in Section 10905 of the Third Class City Code.[1] The Board shall organize annually on the second Thursday of January. The Board shall elect a President and Vice-President annually from among the members and shall appoint a secretary who is not a board member. The Secretary shall take the aforesaid oath and shall give a fidelity bond with corporate surety to the City in such amount as Council requires. The Secretary shall receive such salary as Council shall approve.

The Board of Health shall enforce the laws of the commonwealth, the rules, regulations and orders of the State Department of Health, in accordance with Section 12307 of the Third Class City Code,[1] and the Codes of the City of Easton, Pennsylvania.

The Board of Health shall make an annual report to the City Council of Easton in January of each year for all activities and actions of the Board in the previous year.
