The Uniform Fire Code and Uniform Fire Code Standards prescribing regulations governing conditions hazardous to life and property from fire or explosion shall be adopted and a Bureau of Fire Prevention established.
A. 
Adoption. There is hereby adopted by the Board of Trustees of the Charter Township of East China for the purpose of prescribing regulations governing conditions hazardous to life and property from fire or explosion that certain code and standards known as the “Uniform Fire Code” and the “Uniform Fire Code Standards” published by the Western Fire Chiefs Association and the International Conference of Building Officials, being particularly the 1997 Editions thereof and the whole thereof, a copy of which code and standards have been and are now filed in the Office of the Clerk of the Charter Township of East China, and the same are hereby incorporated as fully as if set out at length herein, and from the date on which this chapter shall take effect, the provision thereof shall be controlling within the limits of the Charter Township of East China.

B. 
Alterations. Wherever the word “jurisdiction” is used in the Uniform Fire Code, it is Charter Township of East China.
C. 
Limits for flammable liquids storage.[1]
(1) 
Liquids in outside aboveground tanks. The limits referred to in Section 7902.3.3 of the Uniform Fire Code in which the storage of flammable or combustible liquids is restricted are hereby established as the corporate limits of the Charter Township of East China.
(2) 
Storage of liquefied petroleum gases. The limits referred to in Section 7902 of the Uniform Fire Code, in which storage of liquefied petroleum gas is restricted, are hereby established as the corporate limits of the Charter Township of East China.

D. 
Limits for explosives storage. The limits referred to in Section 7701 of the Uniform Fire Code, in which storage of explosives and blasting agents is prohibited, are hereby established as the corporate limits of the Charter Township of East China.[2]

A. 
Establishment and duties. The Uniform Fire Code shall be enforced by the Fire Department of the Charter Township of East China, the fire departments under contract with the Charter Township of East China, including Marine City and the City of St. Clair, and the Ordinance Enforcement Officers as designated by the Charter Township of East China.
B. 
Permits.
(1) 
Those required in addition to code. The Ordinance Enforcement Officer or the Chief of a Fire Department shall act to determine and specify, after giving affected persons an opportunity to be heard, any new materials, processes or occupancies for which permits are required in addition to those now enumerated in said code.
(2) 
Appeal from decision to Board. Whenever a permit application is disapproved or refused or when it is claimed that the provisions of the code do not apply or that the true intent and meaning of the code have been misconstrued or wrongly interpreted, the applicant may appeal from the decision to the Board of Trustees of the Charter Township of East China.
