The Sheriff shall be paid a straight salary
together with actual and necessary expenses for services rendered,
which salary shall be established by the County Board, from time to
time, in accord with § 59.22(1)(a), Wis. Stats.
The Sheriff shall collect all fees pertaining
to the office of Sheriff and shall remit the same to the County Treasurer
at the end of each month, the sole exception being those fees collected
pursuant to § 814.70, Wis. Stats., for the service of process
and travel in those cases in which the service of process and travel
in connection therewith were made by a member of a municipal law enforcement
department other than Pierce County and its Sheriff's Department,
which fees the Sheriff shall cause to be paid over to the municipal
law enforcement department whose member made service of process and
traveled in connection therewith.

In accord with § 814.705(2), Wis.
Stats., the Sheriff shall, as and for the sale of real estate under
§ 814.70(9), Wis. Stats., collect a fee of $150.
A.
Effective January 1, 1995, Pierce County abolishes
the statutory position of Undersheriff, to be replaced by the position
of Chief Deputy Sheriff, who shall assume and perform all of the powers,
duties, functions and responsibilities performed by the Undersheriff
immediately prior to said date.
B.
In the absence of the Sheriff or in the event of death,
disability, resignation, removal or other vacancy in the office of
Sheriff, the Chief Deputy Sheriff shall execute all powers and duties
of the office of Sheriff until a successor is appointed or elected
in accord with the law.
C.
As a nonrepresented, deputized officer of the Sheriff's
Department, the Chief Deputy Sheriff shall be afforded the rights
and expectations granted to deputies generally with respect to suspension
or dismissal, as provided under § 59.26, Wis. Stats. The
Chief Deputy shall serve an indefinite term of office and shall not
serve at the pleasure of the Sheriff.

A.
It shall be unlawful for any person to willfully or
maliciously torture, harass, tease, torment, beat, kick, strike, mutilate,
injure, disable or kill any dog used by the Sheriff's Department of
the County in the performance of the functions of such Department
or to interfere with or meddle with any such dog while being used
by the Department or any officer or member thereof in the performance
of any of the functions or duties of the Department or of such member
or officer.
B.
The penalty for violation of the provisions contained
in this section shall be a fine not to exceed $200.

A.
Prisoners sentenced under Huber Law. Prisoners sentenced
under the Huber Law and held in the Pierce County Jail shall be assessed
costs of maintenance and board, including meals, as fixed by resolution
of the Pierce County Board of Supervisors.
B.
Other prisoners' housing costs. The cost of housing
prisoners from other counties shall be as set by resolution of the
Pierce County board of supervisors.
C.
Medical and other costs. Medical and other costs may
be assessed as allowed by law and set by resolution of the Pierce
County Board of Supervisors.[1]
