Traffic control signals shall be installed and operated at the intersection of those streets described in Schedule I (§
224-76), attached to and made a part of this chapter.
The maximum speed at which vehicles may proceed on or along any streets or highways within the City is hereby established at 30 miles per hour, except that the speed limit for vehicles proceeding on or along those streets or parts of streets described in Schedule II (§
224-77), attached to and made a part of this chapter, shall be as indicated in said schedule.
No person shall drive a vehicle at a speed in excess of that indicated in Schedule III (§
224-78), attached to and made a part of this chapter, in the areas described in said schedule and as prescribed in the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.
The streets or parts of streets described in Schedule IV (§
224-79), attached to and made a part of this chapter, are hereby designated as one-way streets in the direction indicated.
No person shall make a U-turn on any of the streets or parts of streets described in Schedule V (§
224-80), attached to and made a part of this chapter.
No person shall make a turn of the kind designated (left, right, all) at any of the locations described in Schedule VI (§
224-81), attached to and made a part of this chapter.
No person shall make a right turn when facing a steady red signal (stop indication) at any of the locations described in Schedule VII (§
224-82), attached to and made a part of this chapter.
The intersections described in Schedule IX (§
224-83), attached to and made a part of this chapter, are hereby designated as stop intersections. Stop signs shall be installed as provided therein.
Traffic proceeding at any of the locations described in Schedule X (§
224-84), attached to and made a part of this chapter, shall slow down to a speed reasonable for existing conditions, or shall stop if necessary at a clearly marked stop line, but if none, then shall stop before entering the crosswalk on the near side of the intersection, or in the event there is no crosswalk, at the point nearest the intersecting roadway where the driver has a view of the approaching traffic before entering the intersection and shall yield the right-of-way to any pedestrian legally crossing the roadway on which he is driving, and to any vehicle in the intersection or approaching the intersection so closely as to constitute an immediate hazard during the time such driver is moving across or within the intersection. Yield signs shall be installed as provided herein.
It shall be unlawful for any person to operate any commercial vehicle or other tractor, trailer or tractor-trailer combination, having a gross weight in excess of that herein respectively prescribed, upon any of the streets or portions thereof described in Schedule XI (§
224-85), attached to and made a part of this chapter, except for the purpose of making local deliveries on that street.
No person shall operate a vehicle between the hours specified in Schedule XIII (§
224-87), attached hereto and made a part of this chapter, of any day, unless otherwise indicated, upon any of the streets or parts of streets described in said schedule, attached to and made a part of this chapter.
The streets or parts of streets specified in Schedule XIV (§
224-88), attached hereto and made a part of this chapter, are hereby designated and set aside as safety zones for the exclusive use of pedestrians whenever such areas are so marked by adequate signs and other barriers so as to indicate that through traffic is prohibited. No vehicle shall be driven at any time through or within such areas when they are designated as safety zones.
