There is hereby created the Upper Providence Township Parks and Recreation Board.
The Parks and Recreation Board shall consist of a maximum of seven members.
The members shall be appointed for terms of five years commencing on the first Monday of January of each year.
A. 
The Parks and Recreation Board shall serve in an advisory capacity to the Board of Supervisors and shall operate in accordance with the provisions contained in § 2204 of the Second Class Township Code.
B. 
The Parks and Recreation Board shall also act as Shade Tree Commission, to the extent specified by the Board of Supervisors, pursuant to Article XXIX of the Second Class Township Code, as amended.
The members of the Parks and Recreation Board shall serve without compensation.
A. 
In case of a vacancy in any membership for any reason, said vacancy shall be filled by the Board of Supervisors for the balance of the unexpired term.
B. 
The Board of Supervisors may, in its sole discretion, declare the office of any member vacant should said member be absent from four consecutive meetings.
The Parks and Recreation Board shall meet at least six times a year and shall elect its own officers, which shall include a Chairman, Vice Chairman and a Secretary.
