There shall be no profitable or bicycle races,
foot races, beach races or any similar event without permission of
the Board of Commissioners of the Borough of Longport, applied for
30 days prior to said event.
Such proponents and/or organizers of any such
event shall indemnify the Borough of Longport with sufficient and
proper insurance to be determined by said Board of Commissioners.
The Mayor of the Borough of Longport and/or
the Director of Public Safety, who shall be the Commissioner, are
the persons hereby authorized to grant such permission.

A. All those
individuals taking part in the support of a special event within the
Borough of Longport shall be required to wear the same high-visibility
apparel as public employees are required to wear in accordance with
Section 6E.02 of the 2009 Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices,
as currently amended, while engaged in support of a special event
and in a public right-of-way. Compliance with this requirement shall
be enforced by the Longport Police Department who shall also be hereby
empowered to remove any person from such traveled portion if not in
compliance.
B. A “Special
event” shall mean any event authorized by the Board of Commissioners
which will involve individuals engaged in support of an activity which
shall take place, at least in part, within a public right-of-way within
the Borough of Longport.
