The firemen shall be divided into companies,
each to consist of not more than 35 members.
Any member desiring to transfer his membership
from one company to another shall present to the Board of Fire Officers
a certificate, in writing, signed by the Captain and Secretary of
both companies, showing the consent of each company to the transfer.
Upon receipt of such certificate, the Board of Fire Officers shall
permit or deny such transfer, its decision being final and conclusive.

Each of the companies of the Department shall
elect from its own members a Captain, Lieutenant, Engineer and Assistant
Engineer.
A.
To be eligible as a candidate for the position of Captain, a member
of the Fire Department shall have been a Lieutenant for one full year
and must have completed all requirements as mandated by the State
of New Jersey and the federal government for this position.
B.
To be eligible as a candidate for the position of Lieutenant, a member
of the Fire Department shall have been a lower officer for one full
year and must have completed all requirements as mandated by the State
of New Jersey and/or the federal government for this position.
C.
To be eligible as a candidate for the position of Engineer or Assistant
Engineer, a member of the Fire Department must have completed a course
of fire training, satisfied their probationary period, completed two
full years within the Fire Department and must have completed all
requirements as mandated by the State of New Jersey and the federal
government for this position.
D.
In addition, to the above, the Board of Fire Officers may enact additional
requirements in its rules and bylaws for the government of the Fire
Department.
It shall be the duty of said companies, as often
as any fire shall break out, to repair immediately upon the alarm
thereof to their respective firehouses and to convey their apparatus
to the place where the fire shall happen, unless otherwise directed
by the Department Chief or other officer who may be in charge, and,
upon such direction, they shall return their apparatus to their several
places of deposit.
