No person or persons in the employ of any railway company
operating within the limits of the Village of Canton shall, jointly or severally,
leave any engine or car standing unattended upon any crossing within the limits
of any public street of said village nor permit any cars, engines or trains
to stand upon any of the street crossings of any railway within the Village
of Canton in such manner as to obstruct any such crossing for a greater period
than five minutes continuously at any one time without clearing and opening
any such crossing so as to permit pedestrians and vehicles to pass and repass.
Any violation of the provisions of this section shall
constitute disorderly conduct and shall be punishable by a fine of not less
than $10 nor more than $50, and in default of payment of said fine the person
convicted shall be imprisoned in the St. Lawrence County Jail.
It shall not be lawful for any person in the employ of
any railroad company operating within the limits of the Village of Canton
to permit the whistle of the locomotive under his control to be blown except
for necessary signal purposes.
Any violation of the provisions of this section shall
constitute disorderly conduct and, upon conviction, shall be punishable by
a fine of not less than $10, and in default of payment of said fine the person
shall be imprisoned in the St. Lawrence County Jail.
No employee of any railway company operating within the
Village of Canton shall jointly or severally operate any engine, car, locomotive
or train under his control at a speed in excess of 25 miles per hour.
Any violation of the provisions of this section shall
constitute disorderly conduct and shall be punishable by a fine of not less
than $10 nor more than $50. In default of payment of said fine the person
so convicted shall be imprisoned in the St. Lawrence County Jail.
