Smoke-sensitive alarm devices and portable fire
extinguishers are required for certain structures used for residential
purposes by not more than two households pursuant to N.J.S.A. 52:27D-198.1.
The local enforcing agency shall issue certificates evidencing compliance
with the requirements of the law in connection with the installation
of smoke-sensitive alarm devices and portable fire extinguishers.
A certificate of inspection and compliance with
N.J.S.A. 52:27D-198.1 to 52:27D-198.3 issued by the Fire Subcode Official
for the Borough or his designee shall be required on any change of
occupancy of any building subject to the requirements of N.J.S.A.
52:27D-198.1 as now provided or as hereafter amended.

The fee for each certificate of inspection and
compliance shall be $30.
Violations of the provisions of this chapter shall be punishable as provided in Chapter
1, Article
III, General Penalty.
