There is hereby established the office of Lineman
for the Borough of Seaside Heights.
The Lineman shall be appointed by the Mayor,
with the advice and consent of the Borough Council, and shall serve
a term of one year, commencing on January 1 of the year of appointment
and ending on December 31 of that year, or until a successor or successors
shall be appointed and qualified.
To be appointed to the office of Lineman, an
individual must meet the following requirements:
A. Possess one year of experience in installing and repairing
power lines and/or telephone or telegraph lines.
B. Possess a valid New Jersey driver's license and a
valid commercial driver's license (CDL) and applicable endorsements
for the class and type of vehicle being operated.
C. Possess considerable knowledge of the standards of
construction for aerial circuits.
D. Possess considerable knowledge of rules, regulations
and standards covering the installation and maintenance of aerial
and underground circuits.
E. Possess considerable knowledge of the National Electric
Safety Code concerning overhead and underground line construction.
F. Possess considerable knowledge of loop-out branch
circuits.
G. Possess considerable knowledge of tracing out and
keeping track of circuits on overhead line construction.
H. Possess considerable knowledge of the problems and
accepted safety procedures involved in installing, repairing and maintaining
high-voltage lines and equipment.
The duties of Lineman, under direction, shall
include, but not be limited to, performing the work involved in the
inspection, installation, construction, repair, rebuilding and maintenance
of electric lines and related equipment, including climbing poles
when necessary.
