A. 
All elected and appointed officials of the Town, as the same as defined in State law, shall be subject to and comply with, the code of ethics statutes of the State as set forth in Title 36, Chapter 14, et al, and in the regulations, rules and opinions promulgated by the Rhode Island Ethics Commission from time to time.
B. 
Interest in work performed for town limited. No officer or employee of the town government shall be financially interested directly or indirectly in the profits of any contract, job, work or service to be performed for the town or in the sale to the town of any land, property, materials, supplies or equipment, other than as the beneficiary of a patent or copyright, or as a minority stockholder with ownership not exceeding five percent (5%) of such stock outstanding. Any contract, agreement or obligation entered into contrary to the provisions of this Article shall be void, and no person shall have any claim or demand whatever against the town thereunder. Any town officer or employee found guilty of a willful violation of this Article shall forfeit his/her office or position.
