As used in this article, the following terms
shall have the meanings indicated:
MUNICIPAL SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC WORKS
The officer or employee of the Township of Chester whose
duties include supervising the care and maintenance of streets, roads,
avenues, public buildings, public places, sewers and motor vehicles
of the township, notwithstanding any other job title given the office
or position.
Any person holding office, position or employment
as full-time Municipal Superintendent of Public Works of the Township
of Chester, who has held such office, position or employment continuously
for five years or more, shall continue to hold the office, position
or employment, notwithstanding that he/she is serving for a fixed
term, during good behavior and efficiency, and shall not be removed
therefrom for political or other reasons except for good cause, upon
written charges filed with the Municipal Clerk and after a public,
fair and impartial hearing.
The person holding office, position or employment
as full-time Municipal Superintendent of Public Works may be retired
when he/she shall have attained 70 years of age.
This ordinance shall take effect according to
law and is passed in accordance with N.J.S.A. 40A:9-154.5 and N.J.S.A.
40A:9-154.6.
