The purpose of this chapter is to establish drug-free zones
pursuant to N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7 and N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7.1 and to adopt a
map depicting the location and boundaries of each drug-free zone on
or within 1,000 feet of any school property used for school purposes,
which is owned by or leased to any elementary or secondary school
or school board, or the area on or within 500 feet of a public housing
facility, which is owned or leased to a housing authority, or the
area in or within 500 feet of a public park or public building.
As used in this chapter, the following terms are defined as
follows:
PUBLIC PARK
A park, recreation facility or area or playground owned or
controlled by the state, Burlington County or the Township.
The "Drug Free Zone Key Map," dated March 2005 and revised on
May 18, 2009, consisting of four sheets, prepared by the Township
Engineer for the purpose of adding the Middle School at Springside
and deleting the former Springside School, is adopted as the official
finding and record of the location and boundaries of the area or areas
on or within 1,000 feet of any designated school property or on or
within 500 feet of a public housing facility, a public park, or a
public building. The map may be changed from time to time by the Council
by ordinance or resolution.
The Township Engineer shall file with the Township Clerk the
original of every map approved or revised pursuant to this section,
or a true copy thereof, which map shall be maintained by the Township
Clerk as an official record. The Township Clerk shall also provide
without cost a true copy of this chapter and map to the Clerk of Burlington
County and to the Office of the Burlington County Prosecutor.
