No persons, group of persons, corporations or other entities
may operate a kennel in the City of Pawtucket without first obtaining
a license from the Pawtucket City Council.
Upon receipt of an application for a license under this article,
the City Clerk shall cause notice of the application for a kennel
license to be published in a newspaper of general circulation in the
City at least once, one week prior to the hearing date on such application.
Such notice shall state the name of the applicant, the type of license
requested and a description of the particular location for which the
license is requested. Such notice shall also state that remonstrants
are entitled to be heard before the granting of such license and shall
name the time and place of the hearing. Furthermore, in the case of
an initial license application, the City Clerk shall give similar
notice by regular mail at least one week prior to the hearing to the
owners of all property within 350 feet of the perimeter of the premises
on which a kennel is sought to be located.
Each applicant for a kennel license shall pay to the City Clerk,
upon filing the application, the license fee of $150, and shall also
pay a nonrefundable filing fee to pay the expenses of the notice to
be given by the City Clerk as above specified.
Every such license shall be for a period of one year and expire
on the first day of April next following the date thereof.
