There is hereby created a department of the City to be known
as the "Department of Community Development."

The Department of Community Development shall include a Director,
who shall be appointed by the Mayor and such other staff as provided
for by the Board of Aldermen of the City.

The Director of the Department of Community Development shall
serve as liaison to the Economic and Industrial Development Commission
and the City Community Development Action Plan Agency and shall be
directly responsible to the Mayor.

The Department of Community Development shall be responsible
for the coordination of industrial development programs and citizen
study committees under the community development action plan program,
also to work with City agencies in developing state and federal grant
applications and generally to coordinate for the Mayor all community
development activity and such other duties as assigned by the Mayor.
