GENERAL REFERENCES
Boards, commissions and committees — See Ch. 19.
A. 
Village President. The Village President shall be elected at the regular spring election in odd-numbered years for a term of two years, commencing on the third Tuesday of April in the year of his election.
B. 
Trustees. There shall be six Village Trustees, three of whom shall be elected at the regular spring election in odd-numbered years and three in even-numbered years for two-year terms, commencing on the third Tuesday of April in the year of their election.
A. 
Clerk-Treasurer. The Clerk-Treasurer shall be appointed by a majority vote of the members-elect of the Village Board for an indefinite term. The Clerk-Treasurer shall perform the duties of Clerks and Treasurers as provided by law, shall serve as Sewer Utility Bookkeeper, and shall perform such other duties as directed by the Village Board.

B. 
Assessor. The Assessor shall be appointed by a majority vote of the members-elect of the Village Board for a one-year term. The Assessor shall perform the duties of assessors, as provided by law, and shall attend all Board of Review meetings.
C. 
Director of Public Works. The Director of Public Works shall be appointed by a majority of the members-elect of the Village Board for an indefinite term. The Director shall perform such other duties as directed by the Village Board.

D. 
Chief of Police. The Chief of Police shall be appointed by the Village President, subject to confirmation by a majority of the members-elect of the Village Board. The Chief shall be subject to a six-month probationary period after the initial appointment and, during said probationary period, may be removed without cause. Upon successfully completing said probationary period, the Chief shall serve for an indefinite term, subject to removal for cause. The Chief shall have the powers as set forth in Chapter 134, Police Department, of this Code and shall perform such other duties as directed by the Village Board.[1]

E. 
Weed Commissioner. The Weed Commissioner shall be appointed annually by the Village President. § 66.0517, Wis. Stats.[2]

F. 
Building Inspector. The Building Inspector shall be appointed by a majority of the members-elect of the Village Board for an indefinite term. The Inspector shall administer Chapter 229, Building Construction, of this Code and shall perform such other duties as directed by the Board.

G. 
Zoning Administrator. The Zoning Administrator shall be appointed by a majority of the members of the Village Board for an indefinite term. The Administrator shall administer Chapter 560, Zoning, and Chapter 535, Floodplain Zoning, of this Code and shall perform such other duties as directed by the Board.

A. 
Effect. The provisions of this section shall apply to all officers of the Village regardless of the time of creation of the office or selection of the officer unless otherwise specifically provided by ordinance or resolution of the Village Board.
B. 
Appointments. Appointments to Village boards and commissions shall be made by the Village President and the Village Board in April of each year, and such persons appointed shall take office as of May 1 after their appointments.
C. 
Oath of office. Every officer of the Village, including members of Village boards and commissions, shall, before entering upon his duties and within five days after notice of his election or appointment, take the oath of office prescribed by law and file said oath in the office of the Clerk-Treasurer. Any person reelected or reappointed to the same office shall take and file an official oath for each term of office.[1]
