The Fire Chief of the Fire Department shall have command and supervision over all the members, apparatus and operations of the Fire Department, subject to the rules and regulations which may be prescribed by the Council. It shall be his duty to keep all appliances belonging to the City and used for the purpose of the Fire Department in good repair and ready for immediate and efficient service, and to make a yearly report to the Council on or before the regular meeting in October as to the condition of all fire apparatus and what additional appliances are needed, and the organization status of the Fire Department.
The Fire Chief and his/her assistants may direct the firefighters to remove, tear down or otherwise dispose of any building or other structure when it shall become absolutely necessary to do so for the purpose of stopping or checking the progress of a fire.
The Fire Chief, by virtue of his office, shall be the Fire Inspector of the City and shall perform all duties delegated to him by the laws of Wisconsin, particularly § 101.14, Wis. Stats., with the power to appoint assistants and/or outside agencies or businesses certified for such inspections to aid him in the performance of such work and such other duties as the Council may direct him from time to time.
