All owners of real estate located within the City of Lancaster shall provide an appropriate visible house number so as to identify that property for purposes of providing emergency services, such as fire, police and rescue squad services. These house numbers shall be displayed in a prominent location and shall be of a size not less than three inches in height and two inches in width of an appropriate color or distinction so that they are easily read and seen from the adjacent street. The owner of the property shall also be responsible for seeing that the number is visible at all times and is properly maintained. The number shall be that assigned to that location by the Director of Public Works, unless as otherwise approved by both the City Police Chief and Fire Chief.

Any person who shall violate any of the provisions of this chapter shall, upon conviction of such violation, be subject to a penalty as provided in § 1-4 of this Municipal Code.
