The City Attorney shall be at least twenty-five (25) years of
age, a licensed and practicing attorney and shall have been so licensed
to practice law in the State of Missouri at least three (3) years
prior to his/her appointment.

A. The
City Attorney shall prosecute and defend as the case may require all
suits in which the City is interested, shall represent the City generally
in all matters of law; shall draw all contracts, ordinances and legal
documents which may be required of him/her by the Board of Aldermen;
shall give his/her opinion in matters of law in which the City is
interested and shall perform such other services incident to his/her
office as may be required of him/her by the Board of Aldermen or any
officers of the City.
B. The
City Attorney shall prosecute suits for taxes and shall receive as
compensation therefore ten percent (10%) of the amount of taxes actually
collected to be taxed as costs in said suit.

The Mayor and Board of Aldermen may by ordinance employ special
counsel to represent the City or assist the City Attorney or in case
of vacancy in the office of City Attorney or for any other good cause
shown. Such person shall receive a reasonable compensation to be provided
by ordinance or resolution.

The City Attorney shall receive such compensation established
by the Board of Aldermen from time to time by ordinance.
