Propane storage (with the exception of the propane used for home heating, swimming pools, cooking or household purposes) shall not be stored or transferred in the Township of Newtown except in the LI-Light Industrial District and in the CC-Convenience Commercial District when it is accessory to a Service Station (Use E-10), and shall then be stored in non-mobile permanent locations and only in accordance with the following table and the provisions of this Part 2.

NOTES:
1.
The term "wall," as used herein means a wall constructed of noncombustible material having as erected a fire resistance of at least one hour as determined by BOCA Code regulations.

The provision regulating containers above is not applicable to filling connections at the storage container or to dispensing units of 2,000 gallons water capacity or less when used for filling containers not mounted upon vehicles.

The term "building," as used herein means any arrangements of building materials having a fixed or ascertainable location upon the land which is used or intended to be used, for shelter or enclosure of persons, animals or property. The word "building" shall include any part thereof.

The maximum amount of propane which may be stored at any one location shall be 2,000 gallons. Tanks, cylinders and equipment used for the storage of propane shall be of a type and construction suitable for such purpose. All such tanks, cylinders and equipment shall be located on top of a poured concrete slab having a footing extending to the frost line. The entire installation shall be encircled by an industrial grade chain line fence of a minimum of six feet in height, with two doors which swing out and which shall remain locked at all times except to be filled, serviced, etc. In addition to the required fence, each installation shall be encircled by concrete-filled pipes, a minimum of four inches in diameter, to be set in concrete in the ground so that they will be four feet above the ground and four feet below the ground. These pipes shall be spaced not less than three feet apart and shall be two feet from the fence.

Any and all employees who at any time during the course of their employment are required to dispense propane shall have first received the same course of training as is provided by the suppliers of propane to a dispensing facility.
