Any municipal officer or employee who shall be injured or disabled, resulting from or arising out of his employment, may be granted a leave of absence with pay for a period not to exceed one year.
Such leave of absence may be granted by the Business Administrator, with the approval of the Mayor, or by the governing body if such leave is to be granted to the Business Administrator, provided that a duly licensed physician of the State of New Jersey, appointed by the municipality for said purpose, shall certify to such injury or disability.
All workmen's compensation payments or benefits that may be due said injured officer or employee shall be deducted from the pay due said officer or employee, except those payments or benefits made pursuant to law as part of an award for permanent disability to said officer or employee.
