No person or entity shall engage, for profit or otherwise, in the propagation, keeping or sale of domestic bees unless a license is first obtained hereunder, and such person or entity shall remain in compliance with the provisions of this article. The term "domestic bees" shall include only honeybees, all other bees and related insects being deemed "wild bees" under this article.
Application for a license under § 137-1 shall be made in writing to the Advisory Board of Health and shall include such information as shall be requested by the Advisory Board of Health, including the name of the person or entity engaging in the propagation, keeping or sale of domestic bees, the location of the premises to be used therefor and the record name and address of the owner of said premises as on file with the Tax Collector.
A license shall be issued annually and shall remain valid only upon the following terms and conditions:
A. 
Only the keeping of domestic bees shall be permitted.
B. 
The density of colonies on any lot may not exceed one colony of domestic bees for each 2,500 square feet of lot area. No lot shall have more than 10 colonies located thereon.
C. 
Colonies and hives shall not be located within 25 feet of any property line.
D. 
Fresh water sources shall be maintained on the lot for bees during all times that bees fly from the hive.
E. 
All colonies shall be maintained in movable frame hives, and nature colonies shall be housed in two full-depth brood chambers.
F. 
The licensee shall exhibit to the Advisory Board of Health a certificate of the New Jersey State Department of Agriculture certifying that the bee colonies are free from disease and meet the standards of beekeeping promulgated by said agency.
All beekeepers licensed as aforesaid shall comply strictly with the rules and regulations promulgated by the State Department of Agriculture insofar as they affect the keeping of honeybees and shall permit the inspection of the hives by a representative of the Advisory Board of Health and/or a representative of the State Department of Agriculture and shall comply with any and all orders of said representatives insofar as they relate to the proper keeping of bees.
In the event of receipt by the Advisory Board of Health of a complaint arising out of wild bees, the Township shall have the right to take or exterminate said wild bee colony found anyplace within the Township upon securing permission from the owner of the land upon which said wild bee colony is located.

Any person who shall violate any of the provisions of this article or who shall fail to comply therewith or with any of the requirements thereof shall be punishable as provided in § 1-1 of Chapter 1, General Provisions. Each day that such violation shall continue shall constitute a separate offense.
