1. 
Regular Police Officers.
A. 
Regular police officers of the Oxford Police Department shall be required to maintain a sole and exclusive, full-time, bona fide legal residence within a thirty-five-mile radius of the Borough of Oxford.
B. 
Borough Council may by resolution duly adopted grant exceptions to such residency requirements in cases showing financial hardship, with or without time limitations or other conditions.
C. 
Regular police officers shall be required to maintain a valid driver's license at all times.
2. 
Probationary Police Officers. Probationary police officers of the Oxford Police Department shall be required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of Oxford Borough so as to ensure the efficient and timely performance of the duties of such officers.
3. 
Within a period of 90 days after a probationary police officer completes his or her probationary period and upon his or her receiving permanent appointment to the Oxford Police Department, such police officer shall comply with the residency requirements of Subsection 1 above.

All original appointments to any position in the Oxford Police Department shall be for a probationary period of one year, except that Borough Council may shorten such probationary period for police officers with not less than five years of satisfactory prior experience as a police officer. In no event shall such probationary period be less than six months.

As used in this Part, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
PROBATIONARY POLICE OFFICERS
Any person who has been qualified and certified by the Oxford Borough Civil Service Commission and appointed to probationary membership of the Oxford Police Department who has not received a permanent appointment to said Department.
REGULAR POLICE OFFICER
Any member of the Oxford Police Department subordinate to the Chief of Police.
