This chapter shall be known as the "Erosion and Sediment Control
Ordinance of Mathews County, Virginia."
The purpose of this chapter is to prevent degradation of properties,
stream channels, water and other natural resources of Mathews County
by establishing requirements for the control of soil erosion, sediment
deposition, and nonagricultural runoff by establishing procedures
whereby these requirements shall be administered and enforced.
This chapter is authorized by the Code of Virginia, Title 62.1,
Chapter 3.1, Article 2.4, known as the "Virginia Erosion and Sediment
Control Law."
The provisions contained in this chapter shall be considered
separate from, supplemental to and additional to the provisions contained
elsewhere in this Code or other County ordinances. Nothing contained
in this chapter shall be construed as excusing compliance with all
other applicable provisions of this Code or other County ordinances.
Whenever these standards are at variance with the requirements of
any other lawfully adopted statutes, rules, regulations or ordinances,
the most restrictive, or that imposing the higher standards, shall
govern.
