The parks, recreation and intergenerational services commission
shall provide advice and recommendations to the city council and staff
on matters within the commission's scope and duties that have been
referred to the commission by the city council, mayor or city manager.
The scope and duties of the parks, recreation and intergenerational
services commission shall include, but not necessarily be limited
to, the following:
A.
Parks
and related facilities and programs;
B.
Sports
and active living programs;
C.
Recreation
and leisure programs;
D.
Support
for civic and community-based organizations;
E.
Community
services, including health and welfare concerns;
F.
Adaptation
of the full range of city plans, projects, programs and services to
the needs of seniors and youth;
G.
Plans
for the provision of services targeted to the elderly, including recreation,
leisure, housing, financial security, and mobility;
H.
Plans
for the provision of services targeted to youth; and
I.
Early
learning and universal preschool.
