This chapter shall be referred to as the "Law Delegating to the Rosendale
Police Chief the Power to Request and Grant Police Assistance and Authorizing
the Town Supervisor to Enter Into Mutual Assistance Agreements for the Provision
of Police Protection and Cooperative Training."
The Town Board of the Town of Rosendale recognizes that there may be
times when emergency events cause a particular police agency to require additional
law enforcement personnel, equipment or supplies, and that intermunicipal
cooperation is an efficient and cost-effective method of meeting those needs
in the interest of public health and safety.
The Rosendale Police Chief is hereby delegated the power to request
and grant police assistance pursuant to an intermunicipal agreement for mutual
aid under § 209-m of the General Municipal Law.
The Town Supervisor of the Town of Rosendale is hereby authorized to
execute intermunicipal agreements with other local governments on behalf of
the Town of Rosendale for mutual-aid police protection and cooperative training
pursuant to Article 5-G of the General Municipal Law, in such form as may
be approved by an attorney for the Town and subject to the approval of the
Town Board of the Town of Rosendale, and such agreements shall be filed with
the Town Clerk of the Town of Rosendale.
