[Adopted 12-17-2001 by Ord. No. 972]
For purposes of this article, "false alarm"
is defined as a call for police or fire services where there is no
actual or perceived need for police or fire services and where the
call for service is caused by a mechanical or electronic defect in
the alarm system or the improper operation or use of the alarm system.
Pursuant to the Pennsylvania Borough Code, all private residents and commercial establishments shall
be permitted one false alarm call per year. The first offense after
the first false alarm shall result in a $30 fine, after which the
resident or commercial establishment shall be fined upon each subsequent
violation. This article is being adopted in response to public safety
concerns on the part of the Borough of Edgewood due to unusually high
