The purpose of this article shall be to improve
and promote the health, safety and general welfare of the community
pertaining to traffic regulations at parking areas of shopping centers,
commercial sites and industrial sites.
The following words, when used in this article,
shall, for the purpose of this article, have the meanings ascribed
to them in this section:
FIRE CORRIDOR
An area designated for use by fire or other emergency vehicles
on any public or private street, driveway or parking area recognized
and designated as a "fire corridor." The fire corridor shall extend
from the curbline surrounding the building to the nearest traffic
lane or street. If no curbline exists from the building line, the
fire corridor shall be measured from the edge of the building walls
to the nearest traffic lane or street.
FIRE LANE
A traffic lane designated for use by fire or emergency vehicles
on any public or private street, driveway or parking area recognized
and designated as a "fire lane." Said fire lane shall extend from
the curbline surrounding the building. If no curbline exists from
the building line, said fire lane shall be measured from the edge
of the building walls.
PARK OR PARKING
The standing of a vehicle, whether occupied or not, other
than temporarily for the purpose of and while actually engaged in
loading or unloading.
PERSON
Every natural person, firm, association or corporation.
STANDING
Any stopping of a vehicle, whether occupied or not.
VEHICLE
Every device in, upon or by which any person or property
is or may be transported or drawn upon a highway. Also included in
this definition are shopping carts, bicycles, motorbikes and other
similar vehicles and items.
