No pedestrian shall cross a roadway, street
or highway in the City of Pawtucket, other than in a crosswalk, in
any business district.
No pedestrian shall cross a roadway intersection
diagonally, unless authorized by official traffic control devices,
and when authorized to cross diagonally, pedestrians shall cross only
in accordance with the official traffic control devices pertaining
to such crossing movements.
It shall be unlawful for any pedestrian to walk
in the traveled roadway, street or highway, or in the area adjacent
to such roadway, or within any portion of the freeway, expressway
or any limited-access highway.

No person shall stand, walk or linger in a roadway,
street or highway in the City of Pawtucket for the purpose of soliciting
a ride from the occupant or driver of a vehicle.
Notwithstanding the foregoing provisions of
this article, every driver of a vehicle or conveyance shall exercise
due care to avoid colliding with any pedestrian upon any roadway,
street or highway of the City of Pawtucket, and shall give warning
by sounding the horn, when necessary, and shall exercise proper caution
upon observing any child or any confused or incapacitated person upon
the roadway.
Hawkers of daily publications and current periodicals
are exempt from the provisions of this article.
Penalties shall be as follows:
