Each dwelling house which is to be connected
with the sewer main must have a separate lateral from the house to
the sewer main in the street, except where special permission is granted
by the Borough Council, in writing, at the time application for the
opening of such street is made to combine the laterals from two or
more dwelling houses, where all but one of the dwellings to be so
connected are not located on property immediately adjacent to the
existing sewer main. In any such case, the Borough Council, with the
advice and counsel of any licensed engineer who may be consulted by
the Borough in connection therewith, may impose special requirements
as to the proper size and construction of any such combined lateral
in order to meet the exceptional conditions then existing.
No sewer lateral shall hereafter be connected
to the sewer main at any manhole.
Any person, firm or corporation violating any
provision of this article shall, upon conviction of such violation,
be subject to one or more of the following: a fine not exceeding $1,250
or imprisonment not exceeding 90 days or a period of community service
not exceeding 90 days.
