A. No person shall remove, impair, damage or destroy
any grass or natural growth whatsoever, poison ivy only excepted,
from any lands or property in this Town located on the ocean strand,
between the ocean and any bay, canal or inland body of water nor from
any lands, within 200 feet of the north line of the ocean beach, in
any portion of the Town, which has no separation from the mainland
by bay, canal or inland water, without prior written approval by the
Director of Natural Resources of the Town of Southampton and the Board
of Trustees.
B. No person shall remove, impair, damage or destroy
any beach grasses or wetlands vegetation of any kind nor place spoil
thereon in any other area of the Town of Southampton without prior
written approval by the Director of Natural Resources of the Town
of Southampton and the Board of Trustees.
The Director of Natural Resources shall have
the authority to enact rules and regulations to govern the manner
and place of taking, transplanting and replanting beach grass on the
strand or in any other area in the Town of Southampton, as may from
time to time appear to be necessary for the protection of the property
and inhabitants of this Town, subject to final approval by the Town
Trustees.
