The purpose of this article is to change the term of the Town Clerk from two to four years pursuant to the enabling authority of § 10 of the Municipal Home Rule Law.
The term of office of any Town Clerk elected after the effective date of this article shall be four years.
This article shall become effective upon approval by a majority of the qualified electors of the Town of Boston voting at the next general election.[1]

This article shall supersede, in its application to the Town of Boston, Town Law § 24, with respect to the term of office of the elective Town Clerk as provided for in Town Law § 24-a.
