Effective July 1, 1992, no person employed,
appointed or elected by popular vote in the service of the Town of
Belchertown shall be an eligible employee for purposes of receiving
group insurance benefits under MGL c. 32B unless the duties of such
person require no less than 20 hours, regularly, in the service of
the Town of Belchertown during the regular workweek of permanent or
temporary employment and the person otherwise complies with the definition
of "employee" appearing in MGL c. 32B, § 2(d), except that
any persons elected by popular vote who, as of July 1, 1992, have
been receiving such benefits during the term for which they are elected
shall continue to be considered eligible employees during the entire
term for which they are elected, regardless of the number of hours
devoted to the service of the governmental unit.
