As used in this article, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
FIRE INSPECTOR
The fire inspector of the Fire Prevention Bureau.
A. 
Certificate of smoke detector and carbon monoxide alarm compliance (CSDCMAC). Before any Use Group R-3 or R-4 structure is sold, leased, rented or otherwise made subject to a change of occupancy for residential purposes, the owner shall obtain a certificate of smoke detector and carbon monoxide alarm compliance (CSDCMAC), evidencing compliance with N.J.A.C. 5:70-4.19, from the Bureau of Fire Prevention.
B. 
Applications shall be made to the Fire Marshal of the Township of Medford, 91 Union Street, Medford, New Jersey 08055, together with the required fee payable to the Township of Medford.
A. 
The application fee for a certificate of smoke detector and carbon monoxide alarm compliance (CSDCMAC), as required by N.J.A.C. 5:70-2.3, shall be based upon the amount of time remaining before the change of occupancy is expected, as set forth in Chapter 71 of the Code of the Township of Medford.
B. 
Apartment units not owner occupied shall be inspected prior to being occupied by every new tenant. The same fee as specified in Subsection A above shall be utilized for apartment inspections.
Any person, firm, corporation or other entity convicted of a violation of this article or any section of this article shall be punished by imprisonment not exceeding 90 days; or by a fine not exceeding $500 for the first offense and not more than $2,000 for each subsequent offense; or by a period of community service not exceeding 90 days. Each day a violation of the provision or provisions of this article shall constitute a separate and distinct offense.
