Owners or operators of controlled vehicle parking
areas which use mechanical parking gates to control motor vehicle
ingress or egress shall install and maintain an emergency override
control device on each gate. Such device shall be a master-key-operated
type switch approved by the Fire Chief.
In the event locks are changed in any of the
above-mentioned locations, the Fire Division shall be notified immediately.
This article shall not be deemed to vest exclusive
jurisdiction in the Fire Division in the terms of its enforcement.
Violations of this article may be enforced by other City officials,
including the personnel of the Division of Inspection, Department
of Housing and Economic Development and the uniformed members of the
Police Division.
Any person aggrieved by any decision or requirement
of the Fire Chief made pursuant to this article shall be entitled
to a hearing before the Director of Public Safety, who shall thereafter
issue a final decision.
Violations of the provisions of this article shall be punishable as provided in Chapter
1, Article
III, General Penalty.
