There is hereby established the position of Local Historian pursuant
to and in accordance with N.J.S.A. 40:10A-1 et seq.
The Local Historian shall have all of the powers enumerated specifically
in N.J.S.A. 40:10A-7 which generally includes the following:
A. Preserving and making available materials relating to
the history of the Borough of Fair Lawn.
B. Providing for the preservation of the aforesaid materials.
C. Making an annual report to the Borough Manager and the
Mayor and Council setting forth all work performed and accomplished in each
year that the Local Historian holds the position.
D. May research, write and publish or recommend appropriate
materials for publication.
E. Assist the Mayor and Council concerning the acquisition,
administration, use or disposition of any historic landmark, site or premises.
A. The Local Historian shall serve without compensation
but the Mayor and Council may annually appropriate such funds as may be necessary
to reimburse the Local Historian for expenses incurred in the performance
of the duties and responsibilities set forth herein and in the aforesaid statute.
B. Additionally, the Local Historian may employ such clerical
assistants as may be necessary in order to carry out the Local Historian's
duties and responsibilities providing same is within the limits of such funds
made available by the Mayor and Council in the Borough's annual budget.
The Local Historian shall serve at the pleasure of the appointing authority
of the Borough of Fair Lawn.
