A Borough Attorney shall be retained for a period
of one year by the Mayor with the approval of Council. His term shall
commence on January 1, and terminate on December 31, or until such
time as a successor is appointed and qualified.
The Borough Attorney shall:
A. Attend executive meetings or executive sessions of
Council when specially requested.
B. Have charge of and conduct the legal business of the
Borough.
C. Advise the Council, Board of Health, and the various
Committees and officers thereof, on all matters which may be submitted
to him for an opinion.
D. Prepare such ordinances and resolutions as may be
required of him by the Council, prepare deeds, leases, conveyances,
obligations, contracts, and other legal instruments relating to the
business of the Borough.
E. Defend all actions which may be brought against the
Borough, or any officer thereof, for or by reason of any matter or
duty connected with or growing out of the performance of the official
duties of said officer.

The Borough Attorney shall receive such compensation as shall
be determined by contract adopted by resolution of the Borough Council.
