A. 
There is hereby established in the City of Hackensack the Office of City Prosecutor, in accordance with N.J.S.A. 2B:25-1 et seq.
B. 
The City Prosecutor shall be appointed by the City Council of the City of Hackensack for a term of one year commencing on July 1 of the year of his or her appointment and continuing until the appointment of his or her successor.
C. 
The City Prosecutor shall be retained as an independent contractor and will not be an employee of the City of Hackensack.
D. 
The City Prosecutor shall receive such retainer, compensation, or fee as fixed by said City Council.

A. 
No person shall be appointed City Prosecutor unless he shall be a fit person and shall have been an attorney at law in the State of New Jersey for at least three years.
B. 
The duties of the City Prosecutor shall be to investigate and to prepare and conduct the prosecution of all violations of law within the jurisdiction of the Municipal Court of the City of Hackensack and to appear before said Court in all matters pending therein on behalf of the City of Hackensack or the State of New Jersey, as the case may be.
It shall at all times be the duty of all members of the Police Department and Detective Bureau to cooperate with the City Prosecutor and comply with and faithfully carry out all orders reasonably necessary for the proper investigation and the preparation and prosecution of violations of law within the jurisdiction of said Court or pending therein.
