The following words, when used in this chapter,
shall have the meanings herein given to them:
LIVE ANIMALS or ANIMALS
Includes swine, hogs, pigs, cattle, horses, goats, rabbits,
guinea pigs, mink, white mice, chinchilla and hamsters as well as
all other animals.
LIVE POULTRY or POULTRY
All manner of domestic and wild birds, and includes fowl,
chickens, turkeys, hens, geese, pigeons, guinea hens and all other
domesticated birds.
ORDINARY HOUSEHOLD PETS
Includes dogs, cats, rabbits, canaries, parrots and other
animals and birds usually kept as pets.

PERSON
Shall be defined to include but not be limited to corporations,
companies, associations, societies, including nonprofit organizations,
firms, partnerships, joint stock companies, individuals and government
entities.

The raising, breeding, keeping, housing or slaughtering
of any live poultry or live animals as defined herein is hereby prohibited
within the confines of the Borough of Haledon except as follows:
A. Chickens.
(1) No person shall keep, raise, breed or house any chickens
or roosters within the confines of the Borough of Haledon.
B. Pigeons.
(1) No person shall keep, raise, breed or house any pigeons
within the confines of the Borough of Haledon.
C. Rabbits.
(1) No person shall keep, raise, breed or house any rabbits
within the confines of the Borough of Haledon for commercial or retail
purposes.
D. Horses.
(1) No person shall keep, raise, breed or house any horse
or pony within the Borough of Haledon.
This chapter is not intended to and shall not
prohibit the keeping of ordinary household pets in dwellings or other
places when kept as such.
This chapter shall not be construed as repealing
or modifying any other ordinance, law or regulation except to the
extent that the requirements herein set forth are greater than those
of such other ordinance, law or regulation.

A. Any person who violates any provision or order promulgated
under this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, be liable to a
penalty of not less than $100 nor more than $500 for each violation.
Each day a particular violation continues shall constitute a separate
offense.
