A. 
There shall be a portion of the Police Department, hereinafter referred to as the "Detective Bureau," which shall be under the supervision of the Chief of Police or, in the absence or the disability of the Chief of Police, the next senior ranking superior officer of the Police Department.
B. 
The Detective Bureau shall consist of officers and employees as described in Article I, § 56-1, as may be recommended by the Chief of Police and confirmed by the Borough Council.

In addition to their obligations as members of the Police Department, it shall be the responsibility of each member of this Detective Bureau to promptly and efficiently handle all cases coming within the scope of his duties pertaining to detecting and apprehension; and to make or cause to be made a proper investigation of all matters assigned to the Bureau and to promptly record same; and to make or cause to be made all the necessary records, reports and papers pertaining to such investigations.
All stolen property and other goods recovered by the Detective Bureau shall be properly tagged, logged and turned over to such custodian as the Chief of Police may designate.
The senior officer in command of the Detective Bureau and all subordinate officers assigned thereto shall be on duty during the regular hours as may be assigned to them, as well as such times as may be ordered by competent authority or as their work may require.
