[Amended 12-19-2005 by Ord. No. 37-2005; 4-12-2021 by Ord. No. 5-2021]
A.
At the organization meeting each year, the members of the Council shall assemble at a site to be determined by the members of the Township Council and organize and elect one of their members as Mayor and one as Deputy Mayor. The Mayor and Deputy Mayor shall be chosen by a majority vote of all members of the Council. Such vote shall be taken by roll call of the Clerk, as such procedure is described herein.
B.
If the members shall be unable, within three votes to be taken to elect a Mayor or Deputy Mayor, then the Mayor or Deputy Mayor shall be decided by preferential voting, whereby each member announces its choice, in order of preference, as to each person nominated. The Clerk will note each member's preferences and calculate pursuant to Robert's Rules of Order preferential voting standards, announcing each step to the public as votes are redistributed based on preference.
