It shall be unlawful to place or maintain any
building materials, boxes or debris of any kind upon the streets or
sidewalks or the Borough of Longport. Dumpsters and/or trash containers
for active demolition or construction may be permitted within the
street cartway for not more than 30 calendar days upon having obtained
a permit for such purpose from the Borough Clerk. No permits will
be granted for any dumpster or trash containers to be placed between
June 1 and September 1. Such permit shall state the location of the
building under construction or demolition and the location of the
proposed trash receptacle. In no case shall the trash receptacle be
placed within 20 feet of any fire hydrant or within any driveway area
or within six feet of any sidewalk crossing, and the curb and gutter
area shall be in all cases left open and clear of any obstruction
for a width of 15 inches from the curb. The maximum size of trash
receptacle shall be limited to eight feet in width, 20 feet in length
and eight feet in height. The applicant shall be responsible for any
and all damages to the road surface, curbing and gutter as a result
of placing said trash receptacle. The fee for such permit shall be
$25. Said permit shall be valid for only 30 calendar days and shall
not be renewable except upon reapplication and payment of a new permit
fee.
Any person or persons violating any of the provisions
of this article shall, upon conviction thereof, be subject to a fine
not exceeding $200 or imprisonment for a period not exceeding 30 days,
or both, for each and every offense.
