As used in this article, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
All products made of aluminum, including aluminum cans; foil, wrappers, containers for prepared dinners or other foods, screen frames, lawn chairs and house siding.
Paper such as that used in brown grocery bags.
Source separated nonputrescible recyclable material generated from the construction, alteration, repair, maintenance, and/or demolition of structures within the borough. This material shall include concrete, bricks, block, ferrous and nonferrous scrap, asphalt, asphalt shingles, recyclable wood scrap, corrugated cardboard, where practical, and any and all other material generated from the construction, alteration, repair, maintenance and/or demolition of a structure or structures within the borough that is deemed recyclable by this article.
Structural material shaped in parallel furrows and ridges for rigidity, used to make packing and shipping containers.
Those recyclable materials designated to be source separated in this article or any regulation.
All metal scrap containing steel and/or cast iron, including but not limited to steel or tin cans.
Spoiled fruits/vegetables, stale baked goods, meat trimmings and plate scrapings.
All products made from silica or sand, soda ash or limestone, which are transparent or translucent and used for packaging or bottling of various matter, and all other materials commonly known as "glass," excluding, however, blue and flat glass, glass commonly known as "window glass," light bulbs, mirrors, drinking glasses, Pyrex-type glass and ceramics.
Green herbage sending up spike-like shoots or blades.
White typing and ledger paper, white notepad paper, copier paper, carbonless computer printout paper, Manila tab cards and file folders.
Clean paper other than newspaper and including glossy advertisements and materials, magazines, paperback books, telephone books, bulk mail, cardboard (e.g., cereal boxes with liners removed), soda cartons, cake boxes, greeting cards, envelopes, tissue boxes (with plastic removed), paper napkins, paper towels, paper towel cores, etc., but excluding brown paper (e.g., grocery bags).
Those materials naturally formed from trees and bushes that are suitable for composting and mulching purposes.
Includes all magazines or periodicals printed on glossy stock or paper of heavier quality than that commonly recognized as newsprint.
All products made of metal, exclusive of aluminum, including washers, dryers, refrigerators, stoves, hot-water heaters, tire rims, springs, bicycles, bimetal cans (tin cans) or scrap metal.
Both newspaper and household paper, as defined herein, in a commingled or combined form.
Paper of the type commonly referred to as newsprint and distributed at stated intervals, usually daily or weekly, having printed thereon news and opinions and containing advertisements and other matters of public interest. Expressly excluded, however, are all magazines or similar periodicals as well as all other paper periodicals of any nature whatsoever.
A container hermetically sealed or made airtight with a metal or plastic cap, with a minimum wall thickness of not less than 0.010 inch and composed of thermoplastic synthetic polymeric material and containers known as "Type 1" and "Type 2" plastic containers.
Includes such rules, implementation dates, schedules of times and such other requirements promulgated by the Director of the Department of Solid Waste Management and approved by resolution of the Borough Council as may be necessary to carry out the purposes and objectives of this article.
Recyclable materials, including but not limited to those described herein, which are kept separate and apart from residential, commercial and institutional solid waste by the generator thereof for the purpose of collection, disposition and recycling.
Any wearing apparel, shoes, handbags, drapes, sheets, bedspreads, blankets and throw rugs, but excluding pillows, mattresses or large carpets.
Paint, insecticides and automobile batteries.
Shall include used appliances and other large objects made of metal, such as refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, stoves, air-conditioning units, metal sheds and large metal cabinets, hot water heaters, barbecue grills, and swing sets.
Includes brush, branches, tree limbs and stumps but excluding grass and leaves.
