A.
Members; task; terms of office; vacancies.
(1)
There is hereby established the Tree Planting and Preservation Committee of the Township, which shall consist of seven regular members and one alternate member, who shall be appointed by the Township Council, shall be residents of the Township of Moorestown, shall serve without salary or other compensation and shall each be removable from office by the Township Council at any time without cause, upon a vote of a majority of all the members of the Township Council, except that the absence of a Committee member from three consecutive Committee meetings shall constitute an automatic forfeiture of that Committee member's office without need of any action. The alternate member shall serve during the absence or disqualification of any regular member.

The Committee shall advise and assist the Council and the Manager with respect to the selection, planting, care, culture, trimming and development of shade trees in the Township. It shall develop and recommend to the Council and the Manager a suitable shade tree program for the Township. In addition, it shall periodically review and generate the list of recommended tree species to be kept on file with the Department of Community Development and known as "Recommended Trees for Moorestown Streets," which is provided for in § 158-26 of the Township Code.
