1759]
The Board of Health of the Borough of Hasbrouck
Heights shall consist of seven regular members and two alternate members,
all of whom shall be residents and registered voters of the Borough.
[Amended 6-25-1996 by Ord. No. 1759]
Both the regular and alternate members of said
Board shall be nominated by the Mayor and appointed by him with the
advice and consent of the Council.
[Amended 12-20-1926 by Ord. No. 373; 5-29-1990 by Ord. No.
1538; 6-25-1996 by Ord. No. 1759; 9-24-1996 by Ord. No. 1768]
The term of office of the several regular members
of the Board of Health shall be four calendar years, two of whom shall
be nominated and appointed for a term to commence on the first day
of January each year hereafter, except that in each fourth year hereafter
only one regular member shall be nominated and appointed. Nothing
herein contained shall affect the present term of office of any regular
member already appointed under this chapter. The terms of the alternate
members shall be for two calendar years, except that the terms of
the alternate members first appointed shall be two calendar years
for Alternate No. 1 and one calendar year for Alternate No. 2, so
that the term of only one alternate member shall expire at the end
of any one calendar year. An alternate member may participate in discussions
of the proceedings but may vote only in the place and stead of a regular
member who is absent or disqualified from voting. A vote shall not
be delayed in order to obtain the vote of a regular member instead
of an alternate member. In the event that a choice must be made as
to which alternate member is to vote, Alternate No. 1 shall vote first.
If any vacancy occurs in the membership of said Board, such vacancy shall be filled for the unexpired term only by nomination and appointment as provided in §
32-2.
